FOUR DAYS OF ADVENTURE AWAITS!
#DrylandTraverse

From the dark damp fissures of the world-renowned Cango Caves, to the snow packed peaks of the mighty Swartberg mountain range, this is the Dryland Traverse and it is a race like no other!

The four-day stage race, which showcases the classic trails of the Klein Karoo, has fast become a favourite on the South African running scene. It kicks off with an underground start in the world-famous Cango Caves (this is the only event that has permission to take runners through this area).

The stages ahead include traversing the mighty Swartberg Mountains – a UNESCO World Heritage Site, breathtaking views of the Great and Klein Karoo, and trails that run past the renowned Raubenheimer Dam.

There simply is no equal when it comes to the sense of achievement, setting and overall spirit of this event – the Rhodes Dryland Traverse is a must for every adventure-seeker!

From start to finish. From the delicious food to electric vibe. Running through the Cango Caves is an experience of a lifetime. Climbing mountains that reward runners with spectacular views left me speechless. Aid stations had such efficient volunteers. Before I knew it I had my water refilled, sun cream applied and a quick snack in my pack, ready to run again! Emotions among runners throughout the stages is phenomenal. Bucket list event for sure.

This was a bucket list event for me , I had no expectations and didn’t quite realize the limits it would push me to , not being a super athlete at all . It got me training for off road running which was totally new for me . This event changed my life , I walk away humbled and grateful . To be able to run through such isolated places with the most incredible views and beauty , I stood in awe of God’s creation with tears running down my face , grateful to be alive and to live in the most beautiful country . And if that wasn’t enough , I was humbled by all the medics and marshals , you name them , for their kind hearts and spirits always watching out for us with such care, love and encouragement. This event could not have thought of anything more to make this a bucket list event for anyone ! Well done you guys thought of everything Nothing was to much. The food was prepared with such love, she will giggle, as I was in tears thanking her ! How do I thank Drylands management for the most incredible life changing event! If you thinking of doing it, do it, you won’t come back the same Bucket list ticked, thank you, thank you, thank you!

I have done many 3 day events (MTB, AR, Trail) and this is probably the one with the best atmosphere ever. I could not believe the party on Saturday night - I have never seen that before on a stage race. Fantastic. Also love the friendly care that the organisers take and attention to detail. Very special event. Well Done!

I didn't think it was possible, the best just got better! Thank you to the amazing team at Dryland for once again exceeding our expectations. What a weekend , amazing challenging routes , great food and to all the participants great "Gees" , you guys are the best I think many mountain bikers have become trail runners after this weekend. And how was that party on Saturday evening ....off the charts! The Kraal will be back!
